Clay Aiken Sings This 1985 Throwback

Clay Aiken is putting a new spin on a song that hit No. 1 41 years ago!

His new album Rewind came out in September and features his first collection of original music in 18 years.

One track in particular caught our attention – “Kyrie.”

It’s a cover of the throwback Mr. Mister song from 1985! That song hit No. 1 for two weeks in 1986.

You’ve probably sang aloud to the song many times, but do you know what Kyrie means?

The actual lyrics of the song contain the words “Kyrie eleison,” which translates to “Lord, have mercy.” Kyrie means Lord or Master, and eleison means to have mercy or show compassion.

Aiken’s updated version remains true to the original song, but he definitely puts his own spin on it.

Aiken has a planned Las Vegas residency at Harrah’s from December 18-23, and is planning a tour in support of his Rewind album beginning in February.
