REO Speedwagon To Stop Touring

In a surprising announcement, REO Speedwagon announced they will stop touring at the end of this year after more than 50 years of entertaining fans.

The band, known for songs like “Take It On the Run” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” blamed tensions between lead singer Kevin Cronin and bassist Bruce Hall.

The group posted on Instagram, “Due to this complex situation, irreconcilable differences arose between Bruce and Kevin. So, it is with great sadness that we announce REO Speedwagon will cease touring effective January 1, 2025.”

So, what’s the deal here?

The band didn’t really explain it – but we do know Bruce Hall has been off the road recuperating from back surgery. The band toured with Train this summer with replacement bassist Matt Bissonette. Hall wrote his own goodbye on Facebook, saying “Never ever thought it would end like this and I’m heartbroken. Please know Neal and I did everything in our power to try and keep the Wagon rolling. I am so appreciative of ALL the amazing love & support.”

Cronin missed the last two shows of the tour for an emergency surgery and wrote on Facebook before the announcement, referencing drama among the band. “Lying here tethered to various beeping machines, makes a guy think… I have so much more life to live, and have re-examined what I want to do with the rest of my time here, and who I want to be surrounded by while I do it.”

So, sad news from one of our favorite bands… it does appear that the remaining 2024 concert dates will happen, but stay tuned!
