In case you’re wondering, freestyle music is a form of electronic dance music that emerged in places like New York and Miami in the 1980s.

#3 “Spring Love” by Stevie B

This song is from 1988 and it’s from Stevie B’s debut album. Stevie B is considered to be the “king” of freestyle music!

#2 “Come Go With Me” by Expose

The girl group Expose released this song in 1987 from their debut studio album Exposure. Expose first hit the club scene in 1985 with their hit song, “Point of No Return.” By 1986, the three original members of the group left, and were replaced by Jeanette Jurado, Gioia Bruno, and Ann Curless.

#1 “Let The Music Play” by Shannon

This song was released in 1983 and some say it’s the beginning of the “dance-pop” era. It was Shannon’s only Top 40 hit in the U.S.
