BLACK HISTORY MONTH THROWBACK SPOTLIGHT: The current reigning Queen of twitter… Dionne Warwick?
It's True.
Special Feature By Jenny Clark
Enter this into “things we didn’t think we’d say in 2021” – we’re celebrating Dionne Warwick as the hilarious queen of Twitter today.
Yes, really, but we’ll get to that in a minute.
First, let’s talk about her reign as the princess of pop, which has spanned over sixty years. The New Jersey native is hailed as one of the 40 biggest hitmakers between 1955 and 1999, and one of the most charted female singers of all time. Some of her biggest hits included “Walk on By,” “Anyone Who Had a Heart, and “I Say a Little Prayer.”
However, we’d kick ourselves if we didn’t mention her time on the Psychic Friends Network, in which her infomercials netted her about $3 million per year from 1991-1998. If you’re an 80s kid like me, you probably thought she was a psychic before you knew that she was an award-winning singer.
The 79-year-old, six-time Grammy winner is spending her golden years making everybody in the Twitterverse laugh their butts off, and we couldn’t be more grateful for her humor. She credits her niece Brittani for encouraging her to join the social media platform and she’s a must-follow. Her handle is @dionnewarwick.
