Cyndi Lauper Documentary to be Followed by Farewell Tour

Cyndi Lauper is one busy lady!

Not only is the pop icon turning 70 this month, her new documentary “Let the Canary Sing” is premiering today on Paramount+, and she just announced her farewell tour this fall!

First things first: Lauper will celebrate her 70th birthday on June 22nd. Her music career has spanned 40 years with hits like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” and “True Colors.” She has two Grammy Awards, a Tony Award, and an Emmy!

The new documentary on Paramount+ will examine all of it – her life, her career, her music. It’s described as: “Let the Canary Sing chronicles Lauper’s meteoric ascent to stardom and her profound impact on generations through her music, ever-evolving punk style, unwavering feminism and tireless advocacy. The documentary takes the audience on an engaging exploration of a renowned and pioneering artist who has left a remarkable legacy with her art.”

The film will be followed by The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, beginning October 18 in Montreal and ending December 5 in Chicago. It’s her first major tour in a decade – and it will also be her last.
