THROWBACK GAMES: Closing Ceremonies

Here we are… We’ve come to the end of the Throwback Games!

The categories have played out, the medals have been won, the songs have been sung.

It’s time for our Closing Ceremonies, featuring songs that serve as an ending point!

#3 “The End of the Road” by Boyz II Men

This song came out in 1992 for the movie “Boomerang” and spent a staggering 13 weeks at No. 1. The song also won two Grammy Awards, for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group and Best R&B Song.

#2 “Closing Time” by Semisonic

This 1998 song has been featured in the movie “Friends with Benefits” and in an episode of the TV show “The Office.” Most people thought it was about a bar at closing time, however, drummer Jacob Slichter has said the song was written about the process of giving birth, “being sent forth from the womb as if by a bouncer clearing out a bar”.

#1 “The Final Countdown” by Europe

This 1986 song was written to be just an opening song at Europe’s concerts. It turned out to be the title track from their third album and today, the music video has reportedly reached one billion views on YouTube!

Thanks for playing along with our Throwback Games! Congratulations to all of our medal winners!
