LOVE TRAX: Soap Stars Can Sing, Too!

Today’s THROWBACK LOVE TRAX takes us back to 1984.

The “Karate Kid” hit theaters, Michael Jackson’s Thriller album ruled the charts, and the space shuttle Discovery took its maiden voyage!

Daytime soap operas were all the rage, with shows like “Guiding Light,” “Young & the Restless,” “As The World Turns,” “Days of our Lives,” and “General Hospital.”

Even if you didn’t watch, you probably heard about the super couples like Luke & Laura, Victor & Nikki, John & Marlena, Frisco & Felicia, Reva & Josh.

One of those soap opera stars released his debut album in ’84, and the title track climbed all the way up to No. 2 on the Billboard chart.

We’re talking about Jack Wagner and the song “All I Need!”

Wagner played Frisco Jones on “General Hospital.” He was partnered on the show with real-life wife, Kristina Wagner, as Felicia. He was on the show off and on for eight years, also appearing on “Santa Barbara,” “Melrose Place,” and “The Bold & The Beautiful.”

Back to the song – Wagner did not make a music video for “All I Need,”  and it was still able to climb the charts. Kind of rare for that time period!

Wagner released two other singles from the album, “Premonition” and “Lady of My Heart,” but “All I Need” was the biggest hit.
